32 Weeks!!!!!

Today we have reached a HUGE goal and are 32 weeks with the triplets! We were told early on in the pregnancy by the perinatologists that babies born at 32 weeks are tiny, but generally have the same long-term outcome as babies born at 40 weeks. We still hope for a few more weeks of growth, but feel so lucky and thankful to have reached this milestone! During my 100 days of bed rest, I have always prayed for our little trio to have March birthdays and it looks like this dream is going to come true! We feel so blessed and want to thank our family and friends for your continued prayers.


Tim continues to do a fabulous job running the house, tending to us all, cooking, shopping, bathing the boys, and being the fun, active daddy that Charlie and Tommy adore. I am amazed every day as he continues to take on so much responsibility, along with working full-time, with such a positive attitude and a smile on his face. My love and admiration for Tim as a husband and a daddy grows every single day :)

We are so thankful for the unbelievable help we have received from our families. Tim's parents are spending the next couple of weeks with us and the boys are having a blast spending quality time with grandma and grandpa!

The boys have enjoyed watching the Olympics and mimicking all of the winter sports they observe. Tim and I are just amazed at their creativity and imaginations! For the downhill skiing, they place books under their feet (for the ease of sliding across our carpet) while using hockey sticks for ski poles - and they sit on big pillows for their bobsleds! Hockey is always a big hit and today they enjoyed an outside game with daddy in the beautiful sunshine!






We had a wonderful weekend and found both a nanny and doula! We had interviews sprinkled throughout the weekend and feel so relieved to have found the care we have been looking for!

31 Weeks!

This morning during the OB Homecare visit the nurse completed biophysical profiles on the babies and they all scored a perfect 10 out of 10! The test grades each baby after meeting certain criteria for breathing motions, muscle tone, movement, fluid pockets around each baby, and includes a non-stress test to observe heart rate accelerations. Although my contractions are very frequent, the babies do not seem to be affected at all by the constant belly tightening!


We had a nice weekend at home and Tim was able to enjoy some outside play with the boys in the mild winter weather. The boys enjoyed sliding down the snow cliff in our yard and playing with their trucks and shovels in the huge piles of snow!

Grandma Mary and Papa Bernard arrived today to watch the boys and we are so thankful for the huge support we have received from our families and friends!

Back Home!

It has been an eventful week, but we are happy to report that I am back at home! I was admitted to Abbott on Tuesday with contractions occurring every 1-4 minutes. After being loaded with magnesium sulfate, 8 terbutaline injections, nifedipine, morphine, and numerous other medications, the babies decided to hang out in utero for a little while longer! Thursday's growth scan ultrasound revealed that all three babies are still growing (and weigh between 2 lbs 15 oz and 3 lbs 3 oz) and are doing great! I was released from Abbott yesterday. My contractions are still 4-8 minutes apart, but we had a negative fFn test on Tuesday and the physicians have increased my clinic visits to weekly for closer monitoring.
Grandma Sheila flies back to Arizona today and we are all sad to see her leave :( We are so thankful for all she has done for us during the past three weeks and have enjoyed and appreciate every second of her stay!

30 Weeks!!!

We are so thankful to have reached another huge goal - 30 weeks!! The nurse visit this morning also revealed nothing but positive news -great heart rates and fluid levels! We look forward to our next appointment this Friday when a growth scan will be performed to estimate the size and weights of our little trio. I am still enjoying every second at home with my family! My contractions have increased due to my growing belly and I am right at the threshold level allowed per hour (one additional contraction per hour means hospital admission). We are all taking it day by day and pray these little ones cozy up for another couple of weeks :)




The boys continue to live everyday in full basketball mode. Jerseys are the household attire for my little men unless they need winter clothes for special outings during the day (which usually means adding a long sleeve shirt under their jersey). Tim took the boys to a varsity basketball game this weekend and they enjoyed every minute of it -especially sitting behind the "giants" (players) and getting to dribble on the court. They also went to the community center on Sunday to shoot hoops and run, run, run....a much needed trip to burn off some energy! A hockey game was also being played at the community center and they stopped to watch for a bit on their way out -and it is amazing how the boys immediately switched gears to HOCKEY! After arriving home, they enjoyed a snack while sitting under their hockey net on the couch before heading downstairs to the "ice" in the basement to play hockey!

29 Weeks!!

Things are going well here at home and we are getting closer to our next goal of 30 weeks! The nurse visited yesterday and all babies look great, were "breathing like crazy" and remain very active! We had a nice weekend and Tim and the boys enjoyed some time outside playing in the snow on our deck. I opened my bedroom window wide to breathe in the fresh, crisp air and listen to their giggles as they shoveled the deck with Daddy. It is wonderful having my mom here-she is such a huge help! Today she took Tommy on a special outing to the library before she attended Charlie's Valentine's Day party at school! Although Charlie was dressed in school clothes when he arrived, he managed to sneak his Vikings jersey into his backpack and changed during his time at school! The boy loves his jersey!

Tommy is also very into his sports attire! He must change into his basketball jersey and shorts (as well as his orange underwear to match the basketball!!!) as soon as he wakes up or returns home. It is so fun watching the boys play hoops together in their Gopher jerseys for hours upon hours on our main floor "basketball court" ...They are true lovers of the sport, no doubt!

This picture shows that the babies are definitely growing! The nurse visit went well this morning. My blood pressure looks good, all babies are practicing breathing, and heart rates look great!

T.G.I. February!!!!

We had a very positive Dr. appointment today and I am HOME SWEET HOME! The heartbeats and fluid levels for all three babies looked great and the doctor did not check my cerclage since it "has already done it's job getting me to 28 weeks!" I have been on bed rest for over 9 weeks now and pray for several more weeks on my side!
Tommy is still my little sidekick and would spend all day in my room if he could. We have fun putting puzzles together and reading books and I cherish every minute of his company during the day. Charlie loves cuddling and telling me about his fun afternoons at school, as well as precious stories about his stuffed animals. I am just so thankful for all of the days I can be home to give my boys endless hugs and kisses!
My mom is truly an angel in our eyes for coming to spend these three weeks with us. We all appreciate her peaceful presence and all of her help around the house and with the boys. A huge stress has been eliminated knowing that the boys are being well cared for, having tons of fun, and that Tim can work hard during his long hours knowing all is well at home.
Tim is doing such an outstanding job juggling all of his responsibilities with such a positive attitude. He is carrying such a huge load, but never complains. This long journey gives us such a great appreciation for our family, friends and all of our many blessings.
